Guerlain is a French fragrance and cosmetics house that has been in the industry for more than 190 years. It is known for its exquisite fragrances, skincare, and makeup products that have been a favourite of many celebrities and royals. The brand has maintained its reputation for luxury and quality, making it one of the most recognizable names in the beauty industry.
How It All Began
Guerlain was founded in 1828 by Pierre-Francois Pascal Guerlain. He started as an apprentice in a perfume shop in Paris and eventually opened his own boutique in Rue de Rivoli. Guerlain quickly gained popularity and recognition for his unique fragrances and was even appointed as the official perfumer of the royal court of France.
A Milestone In The Journey
In 1889, the brand released its most iconic fragrance, Jicky. One of the initial fragrances to incorporate synthetic materials, it also holds the distinction of being the first abstract perfume ever produced, characterized by the absence of reliance on any single note. Its perfume notes include lavender, wood, spice, lemon, and vanilla. Jicky is still popular today and is considered a timeless classic.
In the Now
Guerlain products are currently available across the world at serviced counters within department stores and at beauty stores such as fellow LVMH brand Sephora. The brand also maintains thirteen international beauty and spa ‘boutiques’, five within France (two being in Paris). Its product range includes fragrances, skincare, and makeup, all of which are known for their high quality and luxurious packaging.
